After doing my research, I found that it takes the average new mom at least 6 months to lose the weight she gained during pregnancy. Yet for the average celebrity mom it takes only 6 weeks! Yes, they may have the the absolute best personal trainers in Hollywood, and red carpet deadlines to meet, but don't these women face enough pressure just being in the public eye? I don't think this pregnancy discrimination is fair or healthy by any means.
These women face stiff competition from their famous peers when it comes to having their "flawless" figures return as quick as possible. Heidi Klum, a Victoria's Secret model, has had 4 children with her ex husband, Seal. After every single pregnancy she is notorious for shedding her baby weight at a miraculous speed. She even did a runway show just 12 weeks after giving birth, and had 6 pack abs to
show for it. I will admit that Heidi looked gorgeous, as well as the other celeb mothers who shed their weight so quickly, but yet, I can't help but wonder what they're truly feeling behind closed doors. I'm sure some days they must wish that they could just throw on their sweatpants, spend time with their new baby, and not have the media scrutiny being thrown in their faces. Even some celeb mom's who haven't gotten their "perfect" figures back after pregnancy still look gorgeous and thin but are still criticized for not fitting their image. Hilary Duff and Neve Campbell fell victim to this just recently. Neither one was in a hurry to lose weight and were torn up by the media. This led Hilary Duff to release a statement defending herself, "I just had my baby 3 weeks ago!" and the the Daily Mail came to Neve Campbell's defense saying, "To all those posting horrible, mean comments, for God's sake this woman just had a baby!!"
When will celebrities learn to take stand and not tolerate this outrageous bullying? The time that they spend wasting working out with their expensive trainers, or dieting to get their slim figures back is all precious time that could be better spent with their new babies. I applaud Hilary, Neve and Jessica for ignoring this negativity and unnecessary pressure.
